Hua Momona Foundation

The Hua Momona Foundation was established to serve Maui’s most vulnerable communities by expanding access to our most vital resources: food and water. Our mission is to strengthen resilience through education, technological innovation, and paʻahana (hands-on work) to expand community engagement programs that support stewardship efforts to mālama ʻāina alongside West Maui’s farmers, youth, and families.

About the Hua Momona Foundation

The Foundation works to improve food and water equity by empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge, tools, and infrastructure needed to become more self-reliant. Through education, workforce development, community partnerships, and practical resilience initiatives, the Foundation helps households build long-term capacity to withstand environmental, economic, and disaster-related challenges.

Within the Foundation, the Lahaina Innovation and Arts Center (LIAC) serves as a hybrid hub for both virtual and in-person workshops, bootcamps, training programs, and educational courses. LIAC was created to help establish Maui as a center for agricultural innovation by translating emerging technologies into practical, community-rooted solutions that strengthen food production, water conservation, and resilience for future generations.

The Lahaina wildfires in August 2023 are the deadliest in U.S. history and devastated the Lahaina community. It will take the support of many to ensure that Lahaina is properly rebuilt with a focus on equity and centering the families from Lahaina. Please join us in this mission to restore Lahaina. Mahalo.

Farm to Table (F2T)

100,000 Meals & 30 tons of produce delivered or distributed within Maui County in partnership with Hua Momona Farms by engaging in agriculture-focused initiatives including donating food products, maintaining communication with partner farms, operating service, and executing volunteer coordination for hot & ready meals at community distribution points.

 

Lahaina Innovation and Arts Center (LIAC)

LIAC serves as a hybrid hub for virtual and in-person workshops, bootcamps, and courses. Its purpose is to establish Maui as an epicenter of education, innovation, and creation, translating technology into practical, community-rooted systems that strengthen food and water resilience for generations.</

Rain to Resilience (R2R)

A hybrid program with a foundation of educational workshops that impacts water conservation efforts to conserve our freshwater drinking supply and increase local food production.

Hua Momona Youth Programs (HYP)

Programming curated for the enrichment of our keiki by establishing environments that expand knowledge, create hands-on opportunity, and boost confidence to enrich future generations
